Phoenix Rising

The book of Revelation describes seven mystery kings. But who are they? Over the years, I have heard a lot of theories, but nothing felt convincing. The passage reads:
And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition…And I saw one of his heads as if it were wounded to death, and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world marveled after the beast…(Rev 17:10-11, Rev 13:3).
Many biblical commentators suggest that Nero – the Roman Emperor was the sixth king. This makes sense – since it is believed John of Patmos penned Revelation during the reign of Nero. And yet, if we consider Roman tyrants to be mystery king material, then why is there only seven of them? The theory is flawed. Nothing else I studied was much better.
One popular theory is the seven kings are seven popes, starting with Pope Pius XI, who became King after the signing of the Lateran Treaty, which made the Vatican a sovereign nation. But this theory is also defective, as it doesn’t explain how five of the kings had already fallen in John’s days.
Rob Skiba presented a list of seven kings, with people like Nimrod, Nero, Hitler, etc., but this seems like guesswork. Obviously, there is no shortage of diabolical rulers that killed God’s people – so why pick these ones? Are satanic psychopaths like Mao Zedong, Josef Stalin, Pol Pot, IvaIvan the Terrible, Vlad the Impaler, etc. not terrible enough to make the list?
To gain a deeper insight, I looked for hints in Genesis. I believe the key to deciphering Revelation is in Genesis. In the lineage of Cain, we have seven generations. Now, you might be thinking, yes, but these people lived in the antediluvian epoch. Sure, but when I studied Cain’s bloodline, I realized a connection could be made to the seven planetary gods. This view, of course, would revolutionize how we interpret the Old Testament, and thus, it is out of the question for most Christians. But I decided to test this theory, and see if these mystery kings are in fact, the seven celestial powers.
Since ancient times, the number seven has been held in high esteem. There are seven classical planets, seven colors in the rainbow, seven liberal arts, seven continents, seven heavens, Seven Hills of Rome, seven chakras in the human body, and myriads of others. The Bible also mentions seven days of creation, seven candlesticks, seven seals, seven vials, seven trumpets, seven spirits of God, etc.
Ancient cultures deified the seven visible planets (wandering stars) as gods. The Babylonians worshipped Shamash as the sun, Sin as the moon, Nebo as Mercury, Ishtar as Venus, Nergal as Mars, Marduk as Jupiter, and Ninus as Saturn. In Judaism, there are seven Archangels, while Christians have the angels of the seven churches.
Even the days of our week are named after planetary gods. The Greeks called the days of the week Theon hemerai which means, “day of the gods.’. Sunday is named after the sun god Helios. Monday is the day of the moon god Artemis. Tuesday belongs to Mars, the war god. Wednesday means Mercury’s day. Thursday is Jupiter’s day of glory. Friday is devoted to Venus, the goddess of sex. And finally, Saturday is sacred to the god of time Saturn.
Another fascinating fact, related to this subject, is the Seven Great Wonders of the Ancient World, were dedicated to the classical planets. The Hanging Garden of Babylon was devoted to Venus, the Temple of Artemis to the moon, the Great Pyramid to Mercury, The Colossus of Rhodes to the Sun, the statue of Zeus to Jupiter, the Tomb of Mausolus to Mars, and Pharos Lighthouse was dedicated to Saturn.
Historically, the number seven is tied directly to the planets. Even the famous hills of Rome, are devoted to the seven planets. Obviously, if we view Cain’s bloodline as astrological, we have to view the antediluvian people as corresponding to Ages of time rather than literal men. Still, we should not reject a theory because of its theological implications, especially if the evidence points in that direction.
The first clue is in Cain’s name, which means “possessor”. In Hebrew, Cain is associated with commerce, much like the Egyptian Thoth, the Greek Hermes, and the Roman Mercury. Also, like the god Thoth whose name means “marked with an oath”, God put a mark on Cain. Thus, Cain represents one of the seven planetary gods of antiquity. If Cain is Mercury, then what about Cain’s sons, grandsons, etc.?
In ancient Egypt, the Sphinx tells us the Zodiac starts in Virgo, the Virgin. Thus, let’s begin in Virgo, symbolic of Eve, who gives birth to Cain, or Mercury – the ruler of Virgo. In the Bible, we learn that Cain moves to the land of Nod, and sires a son called Enoch, where they built the first city. The ancient capital of the Aztec empire was Tenochtitlan the city of Tenoch, which is associated with a species of cactus sacred to the Sun god.
Now, if you compare the family trees of Cain and Seth, you realize that the names are virtually identical. How is that possible? The godly Enoch is said to have lived 365 years, which is a direct reference to the sun. Thus, symbolically Enoch is linked to the sun. In addition, as the wheel in the sky turns, and we move from one Aeon to another, called the Procession of the Equinox, Virgo transitions into Leo, which is ruled by the sun. In essence, Enoch could be interpreted as the Age of Leo—the Lion.
After Enoch, next in line is Cain’s grandson Irad. The name “Irad” means “wild ass” which alludes to the sign of Cancer. The constellation of Cancer features two stars systems named after donkeys. In addition, Irad is similar to Jared, which means “to descend”. Jared is associated with the fall of the Watchers. In the Zodiac, Cancer is regarded as the celestial gate – that connects heaven and Earth. Even more, the Age of Cancer, ruled by the moon, follows the epoch of Leo. From this, we can conclude that Irad is symbolic of the lunar deity.
As the Age of Cancer ends, the sun cycles into Gemini – the Twins. Similar to Virgo, Gemini is ruled by Mercury. Thus Cain gains the throne – yet again! Notice also, the Cain and Abel are brothers, one is evil, and the other is good. This dualism is a perfect representation of Gemini.
While in the Age of Gemini, Cain remains on the throne, but he is eventually killed by Lamech. Cain’s death symbolizes the transition into the Age of Taurus – the bull. Historically, Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus. Similar to Venus, the goddess of sex, Lamech is known for his sexual deviancy, being the first polygamist. Also, Lamech has a daughter named Namaah which means “beauty”, and she is also linked to the goddess Venus. Thus, Lamech is symbolic of the planet Venus.
The final ancestor of Cain is Tubal-Cain, who invented the science of metallurgy. He forged all kinds of tools and weapons, which requires the manipulation of fire. The Latin word for metalsmith is Tubilistrum; a Roman variation of the name Tubal-Cain. In Rome, Tubal-Cain was known as Vulcan, a god associated with fires, volcanoes, and metalworking. According to David Flynn, Tubal-Cain or Vulcan was honored for inventing the instruments called the tubae (long trumpets with low sounds), which were lustrated during the most important holy day of Mars, the Tubilustrium. This was the name given to the fifth day of the Roman Festival Quinquatrus (a festival celebrated in late March). Thus, Tubal-Cain is symbolic of the fiery war planet Mars, who rules over Aries, which follows the Aeon of Taurus.
At this point, we have arrived at the present Age of Pisces, ruled by Jupiter. We find the god Jupiter in the person of Methujael, who is Mahalel differently spelled. His name means tender, merciful, which relates to love and mercy. Thus, Methujael represents the god Jupiter, also known as Jove.

Since the birth of Christ, we have been in the Age of Pisces. We are now on the cusp of the Age of Aquarius, which is ruled by Saturn. We have one more character in Cain’s lineage, and that is Methusael. His name means “champion of El” and also “who demands his death”. His name is a variation of Methuselah, the oldest person in the Bible. All of this points to Methusael being Saturn, who is Father Time, Lord of Death, and the Sumerian god El.
Finally, we have the background necessary to understand the mystery of the seven kings. The five kings that are fallen are the celestial powers, Mercury, the Sun, the Moon, Venus, and Mars, who ruled from the Age of Virgo to Aries. The present king is Jupiter who rules Pisces, and the King to come is Saturn. His reign is cut-short, since he co-rules with Uranus, a planet beyond the classical planets, and thus on a higher octave. During the Age of Aquarius, Saturn will receive his mortal head wound, but he will be revived in the Age of Capricorn.
So we have figured out who the Seven Mystery kings are. The Book of Revelation also mentions 10 kings, which takes us to the lineage of Adam through Noah. We have analyzed most of the names already, but a few more names appear. In Hebrew, the name Adam means “to be red”, and thus, Adam is linked to Mars. This is not a duplicate, as Tubal Cain does not appear in Seth’s line. The name Seth, or Set, relates to the death of the sun, symbolic of Scorpio, and to the former planet Pluto. And Noah is symbolic of the heavens, relating to both Uranus and Neptune. In mythology, Uranus is castrated by his son Saturn, which echoes the story of Noah being shamed by his son Ham. written by JD Hoegel.
